English Lesson Plans for Beer Day

2015.02.28_featured_beer-dayAs you probably know, the ESL Library team thinks that just about every day is a holiday or special day for one reason or another. In the past few weeks, we’ve celebrated National Sweater Day (to raise awareness about energy consumption) and Pink Shirt Day (to support anti-bullying).

We were so pleased to see a comment from an English language teacher who appreciates ESL Library’s lessons and ideas that go with these types of special days:

This is my “go to” site for ideas! I love the special sections that you add based on the calendar…” ~ Martha Kobliska

While working madly on our NEW Lesson Plan Calendar, our creative director Robyn realized that Beer Day is on March 1 in Iceland. We have a redesigned Famous Things lesson plan on Beer as a result, as well as a newly designed Historic Events lesson plan on Prohibition. After all, March 1 is Beer Day in Iceland because this is the day that prohibition ended. (Can you believe it wasn’t until 1989?)

If you think your students would be interested in celebrating Beer Day and learning about Prohibition, why not try these featured lesson plans? These lessons will be featured throughout the month of March. (St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner…)

Here are some of the tasks and activities you will find in our ready-made lesson plans:

  • warm-up questions
  • readings
  • comprehension questions
  • vocabulary review activities
  • writing practice
  • discussion questions
