Podcast – Jazz

Podcast: Jazz (Int)

“Jazz is about being in the moment.”

—Herbie Hancock

April 30 is International Jazz Day. Born around the year 1895 in New Orleans, this distinct style of music brought together the elements of ragtime, marching band music, and the blues.

Today’s podcast features a reading from our intermediate Famous Things lesson about Jazz. In the ready-made lesson, students read a short article about this historic music genre. They also learn and practice the English words for common jazz instruments.

To see the full transcript and use the ready-made lesson in class, log in to ESL Library and choose the intermediate-level Jazz lesson from our Famous Things section.
