Podcast: Internet Addiction
Hooked on the Web
The Internet has become an important part of our daily lives. We work, socialize, and share our lives on the web, and many people claim they couldn’t live without it. How did we all become hooked on the web? Are smart phones and social media sites to blame, or could there be a more scientific explanation? Today’s podcast features a reading from our NEW Discussion Starters lesson plan about Internet Addiction. In the full lesson plan, English learners read a short passage about Internet Addiction. They answer comprehension questions, review vocabulary, and practice identifying word forms. To see the full transcript and use the ready-made lesson plan in class, log in to ESL-Library and choose our Discussion Starters section.
If you’ve ever thought about doing a theme-based unit on Addictions, we also invite you and your students to check out the related Discussion Starter lesson plans on Gaming Addiction and Kids and Technology, as well as our lesson plans on Smoking, Drinking, and Chocolate in our Health Matters section.
